Monday Blues

Monday Blues

Hey all, so I know I haven’t blogged in a long time and I apologise, It has been hectic at work and today is the first day I don’t feel overwhelmed with everything.

So what has happened since I last blogged?

Boyfriend is now ex-boyfriend, apparently he feels we should only be friends, like that is going to happen? Ha I laugh in your face. Feel the bitterness and heart ache? Well it’s ten times worse in person, my eyes are still kind of swollen from all the crying and everyone at work gives you that look that says we know what you’re going through but we are not going to mention it.

I finally finished my book “A lesser Evil” by Lesley Pearce; you will get a review as soon as I am done writing it. I must say for those of you who love Lesley Pearce books, go out and get it, you will not be disappointed.

I still haven’t received my camera back, and I must say I really miss it, my blackberry takes good photo’s but nothing beats holding a camera in my hand and doing so many different things with the settings, all you can do with a cell phone camera is point and take the photo.

We started a new series at church, it all goes around Romans 12, and how you can will reach true spirituality and what it entails. For the first time in my life a joined a sell group, and I must say it is so much fun, at the moment we are about 9 people including the leader. We all range from 1st year at university to newly graduated and just started working. It is so much. This one is on Fridays and on Wednesday there is a group for young adults and students.

Wednesday is ash Wednesday and I have decided I am going to give Facebook and Pintrest up for Lent, I am kind of dreading it since I spend most of my days on either of them. Especially PintrestJ

Well I bored you enough for the day, Have a great day.

Don't you just love this photo

TGIF :)

Thank goodness it’s Friday

Hey all!

Hope to find you well and happy on this wonderful rainy Friday afternoon, yes it has been raining in Bloemfontein since early this morning and this gives you a great excuse to have some pancakes!! Pancakes is the rainy weather food in South Africa, I remember coming home from a long wet day at school with my grandmother having a bowl filled with steaming pancakes... I miss it so much, now we just pay R3 for one and not have that many

I have lately had this one song from Christina Perri on repeat on my phone, I couldn’t remember the words to the song, so took me a while to find it, but it the tune sticks in your head, hope you enjoy it!

Tomorrow boyfriend is taking me to the planetarium to go and look at the stars through the telescope and just enjoy a wonderful evening together, that’s if it doesn’t rain. I don’t mind if it rains, we can always enjoy a movie together.

I have also finally received my sewing machine, it's an old Elna Contessa, and in perfect condition, so might test it out tomorrow morning, I have been burning to test it on some of the ideas from pintrest.

Well I wish you all a wonderful weekend, I hope I get my camera back soon, I am going to die without it.

I'm 24!

Birthday update

Good morning all!

I just realised I never shared my birthday with you, well it happened, I am now 24, not as scary as I thought, so far....

So on Friday night we went to my favourite restaurant, Ocean Basket and had platters, which we love since then you can have a little bit of everything, some prawns, crab sticks, fish and chips, totally love it. I enjoyed everything and we had Mc Flurry’s for dessert from Mc D’s.

Not our cupcakes, but looked more or less the same

On Saturday morning we went to the Farmers market and bought yummy fruit and gerber daisies which are my favourite. Afterwards we went out for breakfast and then just walked around. The best morning, we then went home to bake some cupcakes, as boyfriend was coming over for dinner to meet the parents, well mostly just to meet Dad, since boyfriend already met Mom a couple of weeks ago, you might remember the Cricket we went to, well Mom met him then.

So when he arrived we swam and had a great braai and just chatted until midnight, I think my tip of him talking about farming worked, my dad couldn’t stop talking about him afterwards. On Sunday we made a big lunch for the family who came to visit and another cake, totally love that cake, will put the recipe up one day.

Unfortunately since my camera is still in for repairs there was no photos, I don’t always remember about my phone having a camera so then I don’t take photo’s sorry guys.

So have a great awesome day!

Tomorrow on my birthday, we are going to the Boeremark (Farmers market) and since it’s my first off weekend in a while, I plan to enjoy it. Afterwards a braai, with maybe some swimming later. On Sunday the family will arrive and we will have a nice Sunday lunch, can’t wait for the weekend to kick off.

Twopenny Rainbows

Twopenny Rainbows

Anna Jacobs

I have read this book maybe 10 times, the story is amazing, and I love books set in the 1800’s so this book naturally fell in my category. To be honest before my aunt bought me this book on one of their many trips to the UK I have never heard of Anna Jacobs (well to be honest at that stage I was more interested in the babysitters collection). The book is set in 1863 when two Irish orphans Ismay and Mara are sent to Australia to live in one of the convents there. This was against their will since both the girls was promised by their older sister Keara that she will come and get them out of the orphanage. The girls were extremely mad at Keara since they started to believe she abandoned them.

They went unwillingly on the boat to Australia to their horror on arriving in Australia the sisters was separated, Ismay was sent to work on a farm as a maid miles away from her sister while Mara has to stay behind in the orphanage. Lonely and longing to be reunited they run away from their respective places. Ismay stumbles across an old man and his help, on their trading wagon; they agree that she can go with them. And this also has its own dangers.

Meanwhile older sister Keara arrives in Melbourne to find both girls have vanished and the trail might be cold. At this point you feel that nothing goes right for these siblings, but then a miracle happens, Keara’s fiance finds Ismay and after several further attempts they find Mara. Still danger lurks when they go and live with their sister Keara.

I am not going to give away anything further since I feel this is a must read for all book lovers.

Weekend Update

Weekend update

So this weekend was great I enjoyed it thoroughly. On Saturday morning I worked as usual, and it wasn’t that bad a morning.

Saturday evening the boyfriend and I went to watch Puss in Boots, it was my second time but he really wanted to watch it, so I obliged. I must say I enjoyed it just as much the second time as I did the first. We then went out on the highway and stopped at the Wimpy and got ourselves an ice cream and just sat and chatted and watched the sun set.

My sister had to sit at home all alone that night, since she did not want to go with my parents to visit the family, I did somehow feel sorry for her, so we cut it short and went home to have coffee and watch Top gears Polar special.

On Sunday we spend the day at home, we just went to this great new place in town that sells plastic everything. So we got a bunch of new Tupperware and just enjoyed walking around in that major warehouse. Afterwards we went to one of our friends whose daughter turned one yesterday and had lovely cake. Forgot to take a picture, will get one from the proud mommy.

Now for those of you who don’t know me, I am one of those people that like to read several different books at once. At this very stage I have 3 that I am juggling, on my bedside table I have Lesley Pearce’s A lesser Evil, in the living room I have The Help and on my phone I have Pride and Prejudice. Sometimes it takes some I can’t understand why the book isn’t carrying on where I left it, but that’s how I like it, I am a total book collector, I haven’t got a lot on my bookshelf at the moment, but like all collections you have to start somewhere. (a review will follow)

I wish you all a wonderful week, and I hope all your dreams come true.

Week in a nutshell

My week in a nutshell

This has been a very slow week, even at work it hasn’t been as busy as it is usually, but I have a suspicion it might just get busier this coming week, since half of the staff will be on the road. I always look forward to those weeks. Why you might ask, because those are the weeks I get to prove that I want to be here and that I can handle stress. As you know I don’t have a permanent position this means that I have to prove myself, I just hope it will works out.

I hate to admit it, but we don’t go to church as much as we should, don’t get me wrong, we are Christians, I believe, it’s just since we have a channel that has a service on television every Sunday morning, in the same time as our regular church so we usually end up watching that. And lately we started liking the reverent of this particular program, sometimes it just feels like he is talking directly to you.

Anyway I got sidetracked, the reason why I brought this up, the one thing most people do every new year is make a new year’s resolution list, a small to large list, in my case a medium oneJ, the list usually comprises of things like lose weight, get a better job, etc. The one thing this reverent brought up was, most of the time you don’t put God on the top of your list, or worse don’t even make the list. I was ashamed that on my list of things God wasn’t on top. So I rearranged my list and have since been making time to do my personal time with God, and make it long and really experience Him. I have bought myself a notebook in which I write my prayers and this puts things into perspective. You can see what God does in your life.

This week I have also finally after a year finished paying of my student loan, I can’t wait to have that extra money next month, now it’s time to safe for a car, can’t wait to have my own car.

So I wish you all wonderful weekend, enjoy your time with your family, in one week I turn 24! I can’t believe it.
